This page explains how to use the Datadownload program.

To run Datadownload and take data off the attendance scanners, follow these steps:

  1. Login to a computer that has the datadownload software program on it. You may need to be granted power user privelges by your network administrator to access this program on your profile.
  2. Open the Datadownload program. The following image will appear on your screen. Make sure the MySQL Status says "Connected."
  3. Plug the USB end of the cord attached to the DB-9 serial port on the tower into the scanner (see picture below).
  4. Press the "Download Data" button. The image on the screen will update to tell you how many scanners have been processed and the total number of scans taken off the scanners.
  5. Unplug the USB cord from the scanner and plug in another scanner containing data for the event you want to upload attendance. Press the "Download Data" button. Once again, the image on the screen will update.
  6. Repeat until all data has been downloaded. Then close out of the Datadownload Program.
  7. The OGCC and the CGCC will now have the ability to process the attendance data using the "Process Attendance" function found in their database login area (Note: if it is an non-official event, the GMCA will also have the ability to do this). More information: Process Attendance

If DataDownload will not connect to the MySQL Server, a red "Disconnected" will show under MySQL Status.

When you click "Download Data" a save box will appear and you must save that file to your computer. See: Upload DataDownload File
