Creating Scan Cards
Having barcode scan cards is a requirement and one of the best accountability attributes the Knodberg Cadet Link system has. Creating these cards is done online.

This section will go over how to select which Cadets’ Barcodes will be created.

- Computer with access to Detachment website

Cadet Selection
- Access Detachment web page as normal.
- From main page, click on Database Login
- Log into CGCC section of Database. (If you are presented with multiple login options select “CGCC”).

Printing Barcodes
This section goes over how to print Barcodes.
Final Printing Process
- From Barcode Maker Screen click on Card 1.
- Once the pop-up page has appeared, press Ctrl-P while page is still active.
- From printer setup screen, select the K-10 Card printer (or any other card printer if not using the detachment computer). (Note: The headers and margins must be disabled for printing otherwise the cards will not print properly. Please reference the following screen shots for Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox).
Internet Explorer 7
Internet Explorer 7 is more complicated to print successfully with. Make sure to follow these directions everytime. First, go to File (hit alt to load the menus) Page Setup. Make sure the header and footer are blank and set all margins to 0.1. (The computer will end up defaulting the margins to 0.116 all around). To print everytime you must go File>Print Preview. Set the Scale to 100% and then click print from the Print Preview pane:Firefox 2.x
Go to File>Page Setup. Under the format and options tab make sure scale is 100% and that the "Shrink to fit page width" is unchecked. In the "Marings & Header/Footer" tab set the left margin to 0.0 and all the other margins to 0.1. Make sure all headers and footers are blank.- 4. Press “Print.”
- 5. Load Card into printer. (Wait for orange light on the K10 printer to come on before you feed the card. To ensure that card printer accepts the blank cards, heavy pressure must be applied till blank cards are accepted).
- 6. Repeat with all the other cards. Note: After card printing is done, it is STRONGLY recommended that you laminate the scan cards with 0.5 mm laminate to prolong the life of the card by preventing the barcode from rubbing off and becoming unreadable by the scanners. You can space the cards out on laminate sheets, run the sheet with cards through the laminator, and then cut the individual cards out. You DO NOT need to laminate each card on a separate sheet. If your cards have holes in them so that they can be put on key rings, it is easiest to punch a hole through the laminate covering the card's key hole using a soldering iron.
